A Comparison of Cars

Visitors to my website might see that I have certain reasons why I prefer the Dodge Dynasty, considered conservative by many, over newer or more sporty cars. Yet at the same time, I hate some relatives of the Dynasty – like the Chrysler New Yorker – even though it appears similar. Oddly enough, I also hate many other conservative-type cars – and ones made in the ’70s – and prefer more modern-looking cars. To many, this may not seem logical or make any sense, but I hope, with this page, I can explain some of the subtle traits some cars have that I find either like or dislike.

Example 1

This Dynasty’s hubcaps look distracting and don’t match the car.

Example 2

Look closely at this Dodge Dynasty. Ignoring the landau roof and the hubcaps, this is a very gorgeous model. This picture comes from here.

Example 3

Look closely at the picture of this model Dodge and compare it closely to the Dynasty. Doesn’t it have sharper edges – and rougher-looking trim around the windows? People say that Dynastys’ corners are too sharp, but I disagree. Compared to cars like the one above, Dynastys actually have smoother edges. This picture comes from here.

Example 4

This next point might be a lot easier for me to make to show that I don’t like cars with too-sharp edges although the Dynasty is fairly angular – and that what I actually like is sharpness and boxiness – though with a slight amount of smoothness at the same time. Anyway, look at the picture of this Dynasty steering wheel (found on this site) and compare it to this trapezoidal one (found on this site).

Doesn’t the first picture look smoother and much better? No offense to people who have or like such cars, of course. Anyway, the style is still boxy – but it looks more smooth, refined, and padded. That’s the style I look for in cars – and really just about anything.

Other Cars

At some point, I intend to add more commentary and/or pictures of other cars – pictures of cars I do like vs. ones I don’t – to better illustrate what kinds of cars I like (e.g. a Volvo that is just “right” vs. one that looks too sharp – or even ones that are too curvy).
